At BlaBlaCar, we're constantly working on making our community as secure as possible for all our members. Verifying your ID adds an extra layer of trust to your profile and increases your chances of getting people to carpool with you.
To verify your ID:
- Go to your Profile > About you
- Select Verify your ID
- Enter your first name and last name as they’re written on your ID & press Continue
- Choose & upload a color photo of the document you want to verify:
- Passport: Take a photo of the photocard
- National Identity Card: You’ll need to take a photo of both sides
- Confirm your identity
Once they verify your ID, a tick will be added to your profile photo and the label ID verified shown on your profile.
What gets shared with the community
Your ID is never shared with anyone else. The photo and details of your passport and national identity card are kept strictly confidential. Neither will BlaBlaCar or our provider perform any background checks into your past, or into your personal or professional life.
What's more, your ID will not be visible to other people visiting your BlaBlaCar profile. Other members will only see the words ID verified displayed on your profile.
When is it mandatory to verify your ID
Verifying your identity is optional but in some cases, like cross-border travel, we may ask you to verify your identity.
If you're having trouble verifying your ID, here may be some reasons why:
You already have an account
If you already have an existing account you may have trouble verifying your ID. Our advice is to keep the account you use the most to benefit from your established experience level and delete the other one.
Your image quality is poor
Your photo of your ID is of poor quality if it:
- Doesn't show the whole card/page(passport) or show both sides(national identity card)
- Has a flash reflection or is blurred
- Is a scan of a scan (the original document needs to be present)
- Is a black and white copy
We recommend that you verify your ID again with a clear colour copy of your original ID.
You uploaded the wrong ID Type
If you submitted anything other than a national identity card or passport, you will not be able to verify your identity.
Your ID has incorrect/outdated Information
If the name that you entered doesn't match your ID, your date of birth is entered incorrectly or your ID has expired, you will not be able to verify your identity. Try to verify your ID again and make sure that your info is up-to-date and your first name and last name is exactly as it’s written on your ID.
